SG Chung took on the role as Chief AI Global Officer (CAGO) at SK Telecom in 2023, following a distinguished career as an IT executive in technology and telecommunications across various corporations. In his position as CAGO, he oversees the global AI initiatives and technology development at SK Telecom.
Mr. Chung served as Head of Naver Clova CIC for four years (2017 to 2023), before being appointed Co-president of SK Telecom Americas (2023). He also joined paths with SK Telecom in South Korea in the same year. His major contributions at SK Telecom include forging collaborations with AI tech companies to explore new business opportunities. Notably, he moved the founding of the Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA) forward and is currently co-establishing a joint venture with international partner telco companies to develop a multilingual telco large language model. While Mr. Chung continues to serve as the co-lead for SK Telecom Americas, he also drives key AI technologies at SK Telecom in South Korea, strengthening the company's international presence.
Prior to joining SK Telecom, Mr. Chung played an instrumental role in identifying new avenues for the application of large-scale AI solutions to diverse fields and industries during his time at Naver. He is also a co-founder of INICIS (2000-2004), South Korea's leading online payment service provider.
