Rein is the DISHA Partnership Senior Analyst at the United Nations Global Pulse Asia Pacific, based in Jakarta Indonesia. DISHA or Data Insights for Social and Humanitarian Action is multi-partner effort led by UN Global Pulse, the Secretary-General’s Innovation Lab.
DISHA brings together humanitarian organisations, data providers, tech companies and philanthropies to accelerate access to dynamic feeds of AI-enabled insights for climate resilience and disaster response.
DISHA is currently working on testing and scaling two product families: 1) poverty nowcasting and population displacement tracking tools using mobile phone data; 2) tools for automatic assessment of damage to buildings and infrastructure using high-resolution satellite imagery.
Rein has working experience of more than 20 years, including working at management positions, international cooperation and partnerships, formulating legal agreements, project management, policy dialogues, and translating global/regional strategies into Indonesia advocacy strategies and communication products.
Before joining UNOPS / UN Global Pulse DISHA, she worked as a Partnership Officer in the UN World Food Programme (UN WFP) Indonesia country office between 2020 and 2024 where she led WFP Indonesia partnership’s portfolio with government, development partners, donors and private sectors. She managed the resource mobilisation for programme activities and established partnership agreements. Prior to joining UN WFP, Rein joined the ASEAN Secretariat as the Senior Officer for Culture and Information Division, where she led the team in providing policy recommendations, technical advice and initiatives to the respective sectoral bodies work plans/programmes.
Before joining UN WFP and ASEAN Secretariat, Rein was serving as Government Official at the Ministry of Agriculture Indonesia and at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Indonesia.
Rein holds a PhD (Dr. -Ing / Doktor der Ingenieurwissenschaften) in Computer Engineering from Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany, where she was awarded the DAAD Scholarship from the Government of Germany. She completed her Master of Science and Bachelor of Computer Science degree from IPB University Indonesia, both majored in Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science.
